Team Principal Eddie addresses the new year and kicks off our activities and pursuits for 2018. Read on:
2018 marks a major year in the 18-year history of the team. Since inception, UOW Motorsport has been dedicated to tuning and deploying high performing petrol engines beginning with the Honda CBR F4i, then Honda CBR 600RR followed by the most recent Yamaha WR450. Our engines have performed well, a testament to the prowess of UOW Engineering. By the close of 2018, we will turn a new page as we close our IC projects and focus our future direction onto full electric race vehicles.
With that comes the challenge of retooling our team with new capabilities and skill sets necessary to transition our EV project, from infancy to full deployment. We are driven to become one of Australasia’s strongest EV teams. Our business team have done wonders to draw in the massive recruitment numbers we’ve received thus far, with over 100 genuine interests recorded within our first intake session for the year. I relish the growth of a thriving team.
With many new faces entering the team, I submit the following advice; have a strong image of the graduate you wish to be. Allow your experience in UOW Motorsport to develop skills necessary to achieve long-term career goals. If your mind isn’t set upon a certain path, allow the broad opportunities we offer to experience new things. You may be surprised by what inspires you.
UOW Motorsport is about passion, to pursue your strongest interests. We may build race cars but our true product is to develop stronger professionals for our community the Illawarra and the nation. Our alumni have achieved great things, crossing oceans to embark on fascinating careers. So welcome to UOW Motorsport, we look forward to your chapter being added to the legacy of our sport.
