Track Day 26th March 2023
Setting up a technical course for prospective drivers is no easy feat, but it can provide valuable insights into the capabilities of both the drivers and the car. That was the goal of a recent day of running, where drivers were set to run four laps with a torque of 50Nm.
However, the day was not without its challenges. The car experienced electrical problems that caused it to stop on the track, causing a delay in the schedule. Fortunately, the problem was resolved, and the car was sent back out. But more dramas were to come.

In the afternoon, the torque was backed off to 40Nm to allow every driver to have six laps each. However, there were more electrical dramas and a loose chain charge that prevented some drivers from getting their second run.
Despite these setbacks, valuable data was still collected on the drivers. The experience provided some valuable lessons that can be applied in many different areas thoughout the team, and in the outside world.
Lesson 1: Expect the unexpected. When things are going well, it’s easy to get complacent. But unexpected problems can happen at any time, and it’s important to be prepared to deal with them. It’s also essential to have a backup plan in case things don’t go as expected.
Lesson 2: Stay flexible in a dynamic environment like the track. Plans may need to be adjusted on the fly, and it’s important to be able to adapt to changing circumstances. This can be true in many other areas of life as well.
Lesson 3: Keep a positive attitude. When things go wrong, it can be easy to get discouraged. But maintaining a positive attitude can help to keep morale high and make it easier to deal with challenges. It’s also essential to focus on the positives and learn from the experience.

In conclusion, the day of running was a challenging but valuable experience. The unexpected setbacks provided valuable lessons that can be applied in many different areas of life. By expecting the unexpected, staying flexible, and maintaining a positive attitude, we can all be better prepared to deal with the challenges that come our way.
We would like to thank our friends at Sydney Motorsport Park and the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club, as well as the University of Wollongong for their continued support of the team.
