FSAE-A Competition Day One
After a year of relentless dedication and hard work, the UOW Motorsport team has arrived at Calder Park in Melbourne for the 2023 FSAE-Australasia Formula Student Competition. Unpacking our 2023 EV, ‘Billie,’ the team were gearing up for 3 out of 7 scrutineering inspections today.

The day commenced with a standalone inspection of the accumulator, a crucial component in ‘Billie.’ Prioritising safety and performance, the team conducted an Electrical PPE inspection, ensuring all safety measures were in place.

Next up was the Electrical Technical Inspection part 1 static inspection. This step involved a comprehensive check of every electrical component, affirming its alignment with strict competition standards. From wiring to sensors and the battery system, the team meticulously assesses every detail, emphasising their commitment to safety and top-notch performance.

The day concluded with the Mechanical Technical Inspection, a crucial step in ensuring the vehicle’s smooth operation. Every mechanical component underwent a detailed check, addressing potential issues before hitting the track. Additionally, the team navigated the unique challenge of accommodating their tallest driver during the egress test, emphasising the importance of swift and safe exits in emergency situations under a 5-second time limit.

With these rigorous inspections and adjustments, UOW Motorsport is ready for the challenges ahead. Stay tuned as ‘Billie’ takes on the competition, embodying the team’s dedication to precision, safety, and the pursuit of excellence.
