Track Day 01 July 2024
The UOW Motorsport team arrived early at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) to set up and begin our day of testing. The track still had a few major puddles left over from recent rain, so after mopping up the excess water we dove headfirst into a day packed full of testing.

The day’s main objective was to test various setups in acceleration runs to gain a wide range of data for analysis. Our first driver began the shakedown run but encountered some minor difficulties. After some quick adjustments, they were straight back out. Unfortunately, the conditions weren’t favourable for testing due to some persistent damp spots on the track, and so a slight change in track position was required for better data collection.
One of the setups experimented with was different tire pressures. Whilst our second driver was out on track, it was noted that a lower pressure offered better control – but as the track conditions improved, a higher pressure resulted in faster lap times. Later in the day, we adjusted the rake angle and ride height to further experiment the impacts on the car’s performance.

The day was highly productive, with extensive testing providing valuable data for analysis. These insights will help us refine our setups and prepare for the upcoming competition.
