Track Day 17 March 2024 

Our team was back at Sydney Motorsport Park for more testing and validation of our 2023 car, Billie. Upon arriving, we were greeted with light rain and the track covered in water- this gave us the opportunity to run the car with wet tyres; designed to effectively disperse water and provide grip in non-ideal conditions.  

With a quick shakedown completed, our first lot of drivers were able to begin setting times around an autocross style track layout. Despite the wet tyres being on Billie, our newer drivers still were coming to terms with the unpredictable nature of a wet track. This provided a great learning experience and invaluable knowledge in driving when the weather isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.  

We managed to get every driver to get behind the wheel, before recharging the accumulator over lunch. In the afternoon, weather conditions changed to allow us to run the slick tyres and as expected a dramatic improvement in lap times was seen. The stable weather allowed the drivers an opportunity to get competitive with each other, comparing their lap times with the hopes of claiming bragging rights to fastest run 

The track day left us with a stack of valuable data and plenty of soaking clothes needing to be hung out to dry. Thanks to everyone involved for a day full of fun, learning, and fast laps! We’d also like to thank Sydney Motorsport Park for their continued support of UOW Motorsport!
