The day started with a little bit of a sprinkle when we got into Calder Park on Day Three of the FSAE-A Competition. Our team’s agenda of the day was for some of our drivers to compete in the dynamic events and hopefully put a good score for us on that leaderboard.
The first event of the day was the Skidpad Event which demonstrates the maximum cornering performance of the car. Our two drivers get two laps each of a figure eight track, to win this event our drivers must complete the track with the fastest lap time.
Our first driver had an unfortunate circumstance of a damp but drying track and no previous tyre choices to base our choices around. We decided on slick tyres which the driver struggled to get the necessary heat which negatively affected our performance. Fortunately for our second driver the track conditions improved so we continued with the slicks, it was a better performance overall with almost being in 2nd place but unfortunately, we hit a few cones.

The second event of the day was the Acceleration Event which test how quickly our car get up to speed in a 75-metre straight line. Our two drivers get two laps each and to win this event our drivers must complete this track with the fastest time.
Our first driver got a lot of wheel spin on the launch of his first run but otherwise had a good run overall. During their second run, unfortunately it didn’t go as planned and we had a little mishap. Luckily the driver is unharmed and no major damage happened to the car.

Overall the team is happy with how we started the dynamic events even after a few mishaps that were easily fixed. We are keen to put our drivers up for Autocross and Endurance next!
