The team recently, on the 31st of January, held the first track day of the year at Sydney Motorsport Park. Overall, it was a very productive day for both testing and driver development. It was a very hot day at the track, meaning that the team had to show extra caution to the management of certain elements of the car, such as the tyre temperature. The hot temperatures also meant that it was essential to ensure that our drivers were not overheating themselves.

Our drivers for the day were two experienced drivers who were a part of our 2025 FSAE-A Competition lineup. This decision was made to ensure that the team received reliable and consistent testing throughout the day.

The main purpose of the day was to undertake some IMU testing for both the Low Voltage and Race engineering systems. Additionally, if time allowed, the team were also aiming to test the functionality of the 2025 front wing and determine what improvements the team could make for this year’s design. Due to an issue with the IMU that the team could not resolve at the track, the decision was made to be shelved until the next track day in order for the issue to be fixed in the workshop.

Instead, the team shifted the focus to aerodynamics testing. The team completed multiple runs, both with and without the front wing on. After each run, the drivers were asked to provide driver feedback. Overall, the aerodynamics testing was successful as it provided the team with quite a bit of useful data indicating areas of improvement that the aerodynamics system can focus on. For instance, the aerodynamics system can now work on increasing the down force for the 2026 car. Testing was done by 4:30pm, marking a productive start to the year.
